Not sure if this will generate much discussion, but a new 6-episode series based on "Journey To The West" has been greenlit by AMC. Undoubtedly it was an easy sell now that just about anything with a whiff of Chinese-ness to it tends to have strong legs overseas. The creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar also gave us Shanghai Noon—for whatever that's worth—and will share executive producer credits alongside Hong Kong regulars Daniel Wu and Stephen Fung, both recently of the TAI CHI ZERO/HERO films. The Times labeling these two as "master martial arts filmmakers" is a stretch, but perhaps their presence on this show will keep things from being overly westernized.

Thanks for the story. I'll try to eventually watch it. Unfortunatly I tend to put TV productions lower on my priority list (which upsets some of my friends -- live and online.) I think some TV studies is probably important for some cinematic topics, but I do wonder what and how much.
