Great last line of the subtitles:

"Peace and order reigned until the next hockey game."

    It's a barren wasteland up here now . . . pirat

As it turns out, the best thing to come out of the riots has been this public shaming website . . .
    http://publicshamingeternus.wordpress.com/
. . . which has had considerable success pressuring people to turn themselves in, thanks to the mountain of photographic and video evidence taken that day (paired with the massive and detailed digital temples people love building in honor of themselves these days), and the willingness of friends, family, coworkers and complete strangers to identify the morons in their midst. I really hope the concept catches on (as long as such sites don't condone vigilantism, which this one doesn't). It would've been nice if someone had thought of this after the G20 riots last year in Toronto. Oh well, nice to see social media functioning as something other than a facilitator of narcissism for the masses. Smile

The least surprising event of the riot and its aftermath, at least for my wife and I, was the (apparently) volunteer clean-up efforts by Vancouver residents. Without impugning the street cred of citizens of Canada it seemed like a very "Canadian"--meaning civilized--thing to do. Very Happy

    Very Happy

    That was kinda cool, actually.

Sadly, that kind of coming-together didn't happen after the G20 riots here last year, perhaps lending credence to critics of Toronto, who are pretty much comprised of the rest of Canada, if some documentaries are to be believed:
